Try some evening shots and see how they come out, maybe in your own town at night. My suggestion, practice with the lenses you have. Night games will require you to increase ISO even more. As long as you have decent light, you should be fine but again, you may need to increase ISO so your shutter speed is high enough to capture the action. The long lens will be a lot of fun at the baseball games. All I can say is experiment and see how they turn out but if you have to use high ISO, think about purchasing some noise reduction software. You may need to go up to 800-1600, depending on how dark it is. Without a flash, plan on increasing the ISO to at least 400. A flash offers only limited help for close work. If anything, you may wish for something even wider and faster but that is a budget thing.ĭay shots won't be a problem but night shots will be more of a challenge, especially >50mm because your lens is not real fast. For moving around the French Quarter, the wider lens will be fine.
